About this Service

Stony Brook Medicine provides two methods of user remote connectivity to our internal resources.  The first and recommended method for all users is VDI (Virtual Desktop Interface) that will provide access to a virtual desktop computer on the inside of the SBM network.  You will be able to use this desktop to access most needed resources using the pre-installed applications available. 

The second method is VPN (Virtual Private Network) where your remote computer will be connected directly to the SBM network.  This level of access must be requested and approved before using it and has several restrictions on the setup/health of the computer you are using to connect.
