Multi-Factor Authentication

About this Service

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a two-step verification method that adds an extra layer of protection by making sure that you, and only you, are the person signing into your work account.  As an additional security measure, MFA is now required to access many systems that you can access remotely for work.  These systems include Stony Brook Medicine email and Citrix applications.

Authenticator is a two-factor authentication solution, presented by Microsoft, allowing convenient and secure sign in to all SBMIT resources.  The Microsoft Authenticator application must be downloaded to a smart phone and configured, prior to use.  Please see the instructions below.

Imprivata ID is a two-factor authentication solution, presented by Imprivata, allowing quick and secure verification.  Imprivata ID is used solely for the authentication process when electronically prescribing controlled substances  Prior to Imprivata ID, OTP token applications such as DIGPASS were used for this authentication.  These applications are also still supported.  Please visit the link below for more information.
