Connecting to SBU Computer Science Palo Alto Network GlobalProtect Gateway from Android

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for configuring and connecting to the Stony Brook University Computer Science VPN using GlobalProtect on Android devices.

Note: The following documentation is based on Android version 5.0.1. Exact menu names and navigation paths may vary slightly depending on your Android version or device manufacturer.

Step 1: Navigate to VPN Settings

  1. On your Android device, go to Settings > Connections > More Networks > VPN > Basic VPN

  2. Tap the + (Plus) icon in the top right header to add a new VPN profile.

Step 2: Configure the Add VPN Screen

On the Add VPN form, fill in the fields using the exact settings listed in the table below:

Tap SAVE at the bottom right to store the VPN configuration.

Step 3: Connect to the CS VPN

  1. Navigate to Settings > Connections > More Networks > VPN > Basic VPN and tap CS.

  2. In the Connect to CS pop-up dialog, enter your Computer Science Active Directory credentials in the Username and Password fields.
    Important: Ensure you precede your user ID with cs\ (e.g., cs\youruserid).

  3. Tap CONNECT.

  4. If connected successfully, the screen will show Connected. In addition, a key/VPN icon will appear in the top-left status bar indicating an active connection.

Step 4: Disconnect from the VPN

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Notification Panel.

  2. Select VPN Activated.

  3. Tap DISCONNECT.
