Setting Up Copy Machines with IPP for Ubuntu

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for configuring network copy machines using the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) on Ubuntu Linux devices. 

Prerequisites: Essential Printing Utilities

Before adding an IPP printer, ensure that the required printing services and utilities are installed and running on your system.

1. Install Printing Packages:
   Open Terminal and run the following command to install CUPS and related printing utilities:
   sudo apt update
   sudo apt install cups system-config-printer ipp-usb avahi-daemon

2. Enable CUPS Service:
   Run the following command to start the CUPS printing service and ensure it starts automatically on system boot:
   sudo systemctl enable -now cups

Step-by-Step Configuration Guide

1. Open Printers Settings:
   Open Settings, navigate to the Printers section on the left sidebar, and click Add Printer...

2. Enter IP Address:
   Enter the specific IP address of the copy machine into the prompted search bar (see table below).

3. Select Device Model & Add:
   For the entered address, select the corresponding device model from the detected devices list and click Add.

4. Verify Connection:
   Once successfully connected, the printer will display in your Printers list with a Ready status.
